Everton suffered a turbulent start to their 2017/18 Premier League campaign under the management of Ronald Koeman, but new manager Sam Allardyce has already turned their fortunes around. When Allardyce was appointed, the Toffees found themselves just outside the relegation zone and had genuine concerns about relegation.
However, Allardyce is so far unbeaten in the five matches that he has taken charge of so far in all competitions which now sees Everton sat comfortably in ninth place in the top flight. They will now be looking up rather than down for the remainder of the campaign and will be looking to push on over the Christmas period.
We take a look at three players that Everton should target in January to help build on Allardyce’s early success at the club.
2Joe Bryan
It is unlikely that many Everton supporters will have heard of Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, but the 24-year-old would certainly be an astute addition if Allardyce could lure him to Goodison Park in January. Bryan grabbed the headlines on Wednesday night as his superb strike against Manchester United helped his side secure a famous victory in the Carabao Cup at Ashton Gate.
With Leighton Baines not getting any younger at 33-years-old, Bryan could be an ideal long-term replacement. Bryan may not have had any experience above the Championship, having come through the youth ranks at Ashton Gate, but he certainly has the potential to play at the very top. If Allardyce felt he was not quite ready to step up, they could always decide to loan him back to Lee Johnson‘s side for the remainder of the campaign to help them earn promotion to the top flight.
