So, with the departure of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to Manchester United, Manchester City have missed out on a target they had been chasing since last summer. And they seem pretty okay with it—why wouldn’t they, though?
After all, City are a team that have a lot of quality players and are already running away with the league without any problems whatsoever. They might have been halted by Liverpool in their last game, but the Citizens showed their grit till the final whistle at Anfield.
They have virtually secured the Premier League, barring a major miracle, but might still look to sign someone who could work as an alternative for the Chilean. And here are three players that they could look at…
2Malcolm
He is more of a direct alternative to Alexis Sanchez, but with less power and more flair. The Brazilian has been exceptional in the French Ligue 1 this season, something that has made clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham look him with a droopy face.
The former Brazilian Serie A star made a switch to Europe in 2016 January and has been a fan favourite at Bordeaux ever since. Tottenham are being heavily linked with him at this point in time, but City could always intervene and scupper the deal.
Malcolm is a wing-forward that can use his ball control skills and astute awareness to get into the opponents’ box and inflict damage—much akin to the former Barcelona star. Bordeaux want around €50 million for their star man, which is not much of a problem for the cash-rich City.
