So, with the departure of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to Manchester United, Manchester City have missed out on a target they had been chasing since last summer. And they seem pretty okay with it—why wouldn’t they, though?
After all, City are a team that have a lot of quality players and are already running away with the league without any problems whatsoever. They might have been halted by Liverpool in their last game, but the Citizens showed their grit till the final whistle at Anfield.
They have virtually secured the Premier League, barring a major miracle, but might still look to sign someone who could work as an alternative for the Chilean. And here are three players that they could look at…
1Marco Asensio
There are quite a few differences in Alexis Sanchez and Marco Asensio. For starters, the Spaniard is a left-footed player when compared to the Chilean’s right-foot. Also, the youngster is not as strong physically as the former Udinese man.
However, in terms of technical ability, he has the potential to be as good as Sanchez. Even in terms of goalscoring, Asensio is on par with Sanchez as he has scored 4 goals in 9 league starts for the Blancos, which is quite good when compared to Sanchez’s 7 goals in 17 league games.
Asensio also has a deadly long shot. Give him space anywhere 25 yards from goal, he will inflict a lot of damage on the team. The cost for this transfer, however, could be extraordinary as Madrid wouldn’t want to sell a prized asset like him and don’t need the money either.
