3 Reasons Why Danny Drinkwater Will Be Missed at Leicester

With deadline day less than 48 hours away, it is looking like it could turn out to be a classic. There are several big deals still in the works, and one of those involves Leicester City fans’ favourite, Danny Drinkwater. News that the Premier League champion had handed in a transfer request broke on Wednesday morning and left Foxes fans with mixed emotions.

This comes after reported interest and multiple bids from the current champions, Chelsea, but Leicester are holding out for £40 million, an extortionate fee that doesn’t look out of place in today’s market. If he does leave, he will be missed at the King Power Stadium and here are three reasons why.

2Passion

Danny Drinkwater

As a player who has had to work very hard to get where he is, Danny Drinkwater certainly isn’t short of passion. After four consecutive loan spells during his time at Old Trafford, when he secured a permanent move it must have been a relief, but the work didn’t stop there. The England international earned promotion to the top flight with the Foxes two years after signing and was their stand-out performer where he came third in the running for Championship Player of the Year.

He made his return to the Premier League largely on the bench behind Esteban Cambiasso but worked hard to be an integral part of the side that won the most unlikely of titles, only missing three games in the whole league season. For a footballer so used to life in the Championship, it is incredible how he has turned into a top flight champion. His passion and desire to succeed were the man catalysts behind this transformation.

  1. He wasn’t very good after Kante left and has been “injured” so far this season. Looks like he wants to go and I don’t think he’ll be a big loss.
