It’s been evidently clear since the departure of Pepe Reina that Liverpool has needed a world-class goalkeeper. Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have proved themselves to be average from the get-go. But in the UEFA Champions League Final, the latter showed that he was never fit to wear the Liverpool shirt in the first place. If the Reds are ever to progress under Jurgen Klopp, a new keeper is of the utmost importance this summer.
Here are 5 goalkeepers that Liverpool should aim to sign in the summer.
4Bernd Leno
Bernd Leno is often described as the best keeper in the Bundesliga after Manuel Neuer. This is precisely the same way Loris Karius was heralded upon his arrival in England, but I do believe this scenario will be different. The 26-year-old is a different breed, his reflexes and reactions are second to none, and in high-pressure situations, he always steps up.
Leno’s successful stint in Leverkusen is slowly coming to an end as he’s made it clear he’s looking for a move outside of Germany. The club has responded to that show of descent by signing Finland international Lukas Hradecky on a 5-year deal. This all but paves the way for Bernd Leno to make his way to Merseyside.
