With the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica, who can feature at right or centre back, Manchester United have improved their backline tenfold.
But with a significant injury to Marcos Rojo and several other defenders being made of glass, no names mentioned *cough* Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw *cough*. With the success of Eric Bailly signing from Villareal last season Manchester United should look to Spain once again to strengthen their back line.
5Aymeric Laporte, Athletic Bilbao
The 23-year-old Frenchman has shown incredible potential since his debut season back in 2012/13 and has been on the radar of Manchester United scouts for a long time; they are impressed with his style of play.
He reads the game exceptionally well by making crucial interceptions whether that is on the floor or in the air. Scoring two goals last season may not sound impressive, but that is now five in two seasons for a centre half.
He is expected to break into the French national side this coming season as a regular starter and has attracted attention from the Catalan giants Barcelona who are keen on finding a long-term replacement for Javier Mascherano; who is 33 this season.
