With the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica, who can feature at right or centre back, Manchester United have improved their backline tenfold.

But with a significant injury to Marcos Rojo and several other defenders being made of glass, no names mentioned *cough* Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw *cough*. With the success of Eric Bailly signing from Villareal last season Manchester United should look to Spain once again to strengthen their back line.

Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Raphael Varane. Unlike Laporte, he is already an established French international and is considered a real prospect in the game.

At just 24, he shows a real composure you would expect from a player well beyond his years as he plays out from the back with such calmness that it is a real joy to watch.

He is expected to push on, even more, this year now that stalwart Pepe has left the club.

So a move this summer may not be on the cards but do not be surprised if The Red Devils come back again next summer, that is unless they have not burnt their bridges this year with Los Blancos following the Alvaro Morata debacle.
