Following their 2-0 victory over Spurs, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are currently four points clear in 4th-place.
Considering the amount of teams that are currently vying for their spot, Frank Lampard is set to make some new signings in January in a bid to improve his side’s chances of securing Champions League qualification.
On that note, here’s a look at five players Chelsea could sign in January;
Timo Werner
Over the past three seasons, Timo Werner has proven to be one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga. This season, he’s reached a new level having bagged 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances propelling Leipzig to the top of the Bundesliga table.
Whilst Tammy Abraham has produced the goods for Chelsea this season, he evidently lacks the ability to maintain a consistent streak of form against ‘big teams’ hence the need to sign Werner in January.
Isco
Isco has garnered a great reputation over the years as a midfielder capable of exploiting tight spaces and creating goalscoring opportunities out of thin air. Chelsea are said to be considering a move for him in January.
The Spaniard has started just 5 league games for Los Blancos this season which in itself is an indicator of his current situation at the Bernabeu.
A player of his caliber and experience would be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s current midfield set-up having played a key role in Real Madrid’s legendary streak of Champions League wins.
Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho is currently the hottest young talent on the European scene. The Englishman has notched 18 goal and assist contributions for Dortmund in 15 games and his form has attracted the interest of some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs including Chelsea.
Sancho, 19, is viewed as a great replacement for 31-year-old Willian who has put up some questionable performances this season.
The Dortmund man boasts tons of flair which is sure to entertain the fans at Stamford Bridge, but more importantly, he knows how to find the back of the net and create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.
Wilfried Zaha
With a bunch of other clubs also looking to sign Jadon Sancho, Wilfried Zaha could serve as an alternative to the 19-year-old as he boasts a similar skillset and could cost significantly less than Sancho.
it’s about time Zaha secured a move to a big club, and that club could very well be Chelsea come January.
Nathan Ake
After being shipped off to Bournemouth two years ago, Nathan Ake could make his return to Stamford Bridge in January with Frank Lampard reportedly keen on signing the ex-Chelsea defender.
Ake has garnered some valuable first-team experience playing for Bournemouth over the past three seasons, at his current level, he could walk right into Chelsea’s backline unopposed, especially considering the fact that Chelsea’s backline has been inconsistent for the entirety of the Premier League campaign.
