Liverpool look set to lift the Premier League title this season having established a 10 point gap at the top of the table going into the second half of the league campaign.
Unlike last season where Manchester City were slightly better than them and thus, edged them for the title, Liverpool genuinely look like they have zero competition at the top of the table.
In a bid to maintain their form going into the second half of the season, though, Jurgen Klopp might have to make a few new signings. On that note here’s a look at 5 players Liverpool could potentially sign in January;
Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is one of the hottest young talents in Europe. He’s got 18 goal and assist contributions to his name in just 14 Bundesliga appearances this season making him one of the most prolific wingers in Europe’s top five leagues at the moment.
He’d be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s current set-up as he’d be able to add an extra element of unpredictability to Liverpool’s already potent attack.
Kalidou Koulibaly
In terms of pure defensive ability, Kalidou Koulibaly is said to be on par with Virgil Van Dijk who many believe to be the best centre-back in the world at the moment.
Having proven his ability against Liverpool, the Reds could make a move for him in January to form what could turn out to be the best defensive partnership in Europe.
Napoli are currently 8th on the Serie A table, a fact which could potentially help Liverpool in luring the Senegal international to Anfield thanks to the promise of silverware that comes with playing for Jurgen klopp’s side.
Nemanja Matic
Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic is expected to leave the club in January having barely featured for the Red Devils this season. Whilst the Serbian may be past his prime he can still offer Liverpool a great deal of value in the form of squad depth.
Despite his situation at United, he remains a quality holding midfielder with multiple accolades and a ton of experience to his name.
Timo Werner
Timo Werner, based on current form is one of the best strikers in the world right now. He’s bagged 18 goals and 5 assists in 16 Bundesliga appearances, a phenomenal record that has attracted the interest of Chelsea who are looking to bolster their squad following the end of their transfer ban.
A player of Werner’s ilk is sure to improve Liverpool’s firepower and possibly even guarantee them the title – goals win games after all.
James Maddison
Leicester City is currently Liverpool’s main threat in the title race despite being 10 points away from them. A 10 point gap over the stretch of the next six months is not particularly huge especially considering how well Leicester are doing at the moment.
As such, Liverpool could make a move for one of Leicester’s key men, James Maddison, to bolster their midfield options and potentially weaken Leicester going into the second half of the season.
Maddison would fit in quite nicely at Liverpool. He’s quite similar to prime Adam Lallana in the way he distributes the ball and works creatively in the middle in the park.
