In their penultimate Champions League group game, Liverpool’s defensive woes hit a new low. They were 3-0 up against Sevilla and somehow managed to draw 3-3 with the Spanish side. The problems at the back have been evident since last season, and there will be question marks over Liverpool boss Klopp as to why he did not reinforce his defence in the summer. However, he has a chance of redemption as the January transfer window isn’t far away but who should the German try and sign?
4Kieran Trippier, Tottenham
The England and Spurs right back would add another option for Klopp who is currently playing the impressive Joe Gomez in that position while Nathaniel Clyne is injured. The injury has kept him out for the whole season, and he has suffered another setback.
Liverpool might be tempted to bring in Trippier who has found his Tottenham career stalling in recent weeks as he is in the side one week and out the other despite impressive performances. He is keen to attack but will also work his socks off defensively. He is precisely the type of defender that Klopp needs in his side as he has helped Tottenham accumulate over 1246 km of distance covered (3rd best in the Premier League).
