5 Players Liverpool Should Consider Signing in January

Premier League Champion Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

In their penultimate Champions League group game, Liverpool’s defensive woes hit a new low. They were 3-0 up against Sevilla and somehow managed to draw 3-3 with the Spanish side. The problems at the back have been evident since last season, and there will be question marks over Liverpool boss Klopp as to why he did not reinforce his defence in the summer. However, he has a chance of redemption as the January transfer window isn’t far away but who should the German try and sign?

Kostas Manolas

The Greek international is a no-nonsense old-fashioned defensive stopper; the exact type of player Liverpool need at the back. Too many times they have been flimsy at the back and not protecting Simon Mignolet, but this man would put his body on the line to stop the opposition scoring. He has been vital in the Roma side this season and is one of the reasons why they have only conceded eight goals in Serie A; the lowest in the league.

He should be their number one target. Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan are not going to win Liverpool titles but a player of Manolas’ quality will. He already has two league titles under his belt for Olympiacos and two Greek cups (one at Olympiacos and one at AEK Athens respectively).
