Now, this might sound like a bizarre choice since United already have countless players who can play at left-back – but that’s where the click is. Not one of the several left-backs they have — Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw — can be labelled as world class.
That’s one. The other thing is that Marcos Rojo will be out until the New Year arrives and Luke Shaw’s injury record isn’t all that great either. This brings me to the conclusion that signing a new left-back should be a priority — and there are few better than Alex Sandro.
