5 reasons why Paul Pogba will be key to Manchester United’s title challenge

We’re only a few games into the 2017/18 season and Manchester United are already looking like champions elect. Why’s that? Well, the main reason is that José Mourinho seems to finally be extracting the best out of the £90m-rated Paul Pogba. On his day, the Frenchman is an asset that would strengthen any team in the world, however, last season he didn’t play like such.

But this season we’ll see why he’s worth every penny of his steep price tag. He holds the key to United’s title challenge for several reasons, here are some.

22 Pogba has a pacey striker to supply

Romelu Lukaku Manchester United

Last season, Paul Pogba was tasked with the impossible mission of feeding the runs of an immobile striker in Zlatan Ibrahimović. As good as the Swede is, he’s a forward that likes to drop deep, instead of going in behind.  He prefers to assist the crosses rather be on the end of one. That dynamic severely hampered Paul Pogba’s ability to create, resulting in the Frenchman only providing 5 league assists.

This season will be different as Pogba has a mobile, quick & strong striker to feed service. Pogba excels when he pings long balls over the top of defences and Romelu Lukaku is a king at making those darting runs behind. We’ll see no less than 15 PL assists this season from the 23-year old, mark my words.
