Tottenham Hotspur are no longer a laughing stock in the Premier League. For the last two seasons, they were perhaps the best club in England, but have nothing to show for it. Losing points here and there, they lost their best chance to win the Premier League—twice.
And now, with Manchester City being at their rampant best, it seems unlike for Tottenham to ever make a claim for the top spot of the Premiership—at least for the foreseeable future. Currently, they are at 6thon the table and are 22 points behind league-leaders City and could lose out on a top 4 finish this season.
And here are 5 reasons why they are trailing.
4Lack of Harry Kane replacement
The English international is the scorer of the team. It is from him that the goals come and when he is not there or fails to bring in the goods while he is present, it becomes a problem for the Londoners. Last season, Dele Alli and Son filled up that void quite often, but this season they have not yet hit the heights of last season.
Mauricio Pochettino bought Fernando Llorente as a substitute for Kane, but he has also failed to live up to the billing, which is one of the reasons for Spurs’ inconsistent form.
