Kai Havertz is currently one of the most sought-after players in Europe. His 18 goal contributions in 30 games in the Bundesliga have caught the eye of the best teams in Europe, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain. Chelsea seem the front runners for the 21-year-old’s signature. Here are a few shirt numbers that Havertz will fit into at Chelsea.

Shirt No. 10

Willain in action Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Brazilian right-winger Willian currently wears the shirt. It is highly likely that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge after spending seven years at the club. It is likely that Havertz will take the number ten shirt as he has worn the number for Bayer Leverkusen’s youth team before. Usually, the number ten is worn by playmakers or the best player in the club. The number will suit his playing style and he will be the perfect successor to the likes of Willian, Eden Hazard, and Juan Mata.

Shirt No. 7

N’golo Kante – Chelsea

French midfielder Ngolo Kante currently wears the shirt. He was given No.7 when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2016 after winning the title the previous season with Leicester City. Real Madrid look like they will be bidding for Kante this transfer window. If Kante leaves for Spain, Havertz may don the number seven next season. The German currently wears the number for his National team. Though typically a winger’s number, several midfielders have had the number on their back.

Shirt No. 11

Timo Werner Chelsea

New German star striker Timo Werner looks like he will be taking the number 11 from Pedro after his contract expires at the end of the season, but if Werner decides to take the number 10, Havertz will likely choose to wear the number 11. Usually, the number is worn by the second-best player in the team.

Shirt No. 8

Ross Barkley

The number is currently occupied by English midfielder Ross Barkley who is being linked to another Premier League club, West Ham United. The Irons have been looking for Barkley’s signature since January but have had no luck. If he does decide to leave, Havertz will have another addition in his potential shirt numbers for next season. Havertz has worn the number for the German National Team before. Typically the number is worn by central midfielders.

Shirt No. 29

Fikayo-Tomori

Havertz is currently wearing the number 29 for Bayer Leverkusen. At Chelsea, the number is worn by right-back Fikayo Tomori. If Havertz requests for his current squad number to be the same at Chelsea, Tomori might give it up, moving to a more traditional number for a defender. The number 29 is the number that separates the first, and the youth teams as numbers below 30 are reserved for the first team.

If Havertz decides not to take up any of the numbers listed above, other options include #14, #16, #21, #25, #26 & #27. All of which are first-team numbers that are currently not worn by anyone in the Chelsea squad.
