Following the start of the new year, we take a look at five things we learnt from Manchester United in 2017.
4Jesse Lingard’s Evolution
For the majority of 2017, Jesse Lingard was dismissed as just another passenger at Manchester United due to his perceived lack of influence in games. Many fans of the club didn’t view him as a quality player, but he’s managed to prove his doubters wrong so far.
The young Englishman has successfully silenced his naysayers by taking his game to another level as evidenced by his seven goals and four assists in just nine Premier League starts this season.
Amid Manchester United’s rut, the 25-year-old has proven to be a ray of hope. Should Lingard manage to maintain his current form, it’s easy to envisage him being regarded as a key player in the coming seasons.
