Following the start of the new year, we take a look at five things we learnt from Arsenal in 2017.
1New Tactical Versatility, Same Naivety
When Arsène Wenger switched to a back three last season in an attempt to salvage what remained of a calamitous season. The Arsenal players responded brilliantly and with that, they went on an unbeaten run to finish 6th and win the FA Cup. However, the Gunners were not able to sustain such class into the new season and their 3-4-2-1 system soon became a reason for concern.
At first, the back three had helped cover the individual flaws of the defenders, but soon enough, those flaws came to light, again. It doesn’t matter what formation the Gunners play, they’ll always be naïve, careless, unorganised and pushovers as long as Arsène Wenger is still in charge.
