7 Players Chelsea Could Sign On Deadline Day

Chelsea are in dire need of some reinforcements, however, Frank Lampard’s side have been quiet throughout the January transfer window, much to the chagrin of the club’s supporters.

With the transfer deadline day now here in full force, here’s a look at 7 players Chelsea could sign before the end of the day;

Moussa Dembele

Mousa Dembele

Lyon marksman Moussa Dembele has been on Chelsea’s radar since the start of the transfer window following his impressive performances for Lyon this season which have seen him score 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season.

With not much time left in the window, Chelsea could opt to sign him in a bid to bolster their attacking lineup going into the final four months of the season. It would not necessarily be a rushed decision considering the Blues have bee scouting him for quite some time now.

Dries Mertens

Dries-Mertens

Dries Mertens might just be the best player for Chelsea to sign on deadline day. Being 32 years old, he’ll be a short-term option at Stamford Bridge, giving Chelsea ample time to pick out a much younger replacement for Mertens in the summer.

Mertens has made a name for himself as a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. He’d be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s lineup.

Boubakary Soumare

Boubakary Soumare is one of the brightest young talents in Europe at the moment. The 20-year-old Lille midfielder has attracted the interest of a host of clubs in recent months, including Chelsea, with the Blues looking to solidify their midfield set-up.

Soumare has been a key player for Lille this season, making sure things are tidy in the middle of the park. The Frenchman boasts exceptional work-rates, and an incredible passing range – he would be a unread deadline day signing for Chelsea.

Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake has been linked with a return to Chelsea since the start of the January transfer window with the Blues currently in need of some defensive reinforcements across their back-four.

Ake’s consistent streak of game time at Bournemouth over the past few seasons has given him the Premier League experience needed to sharpen his defensive awareness and become a regular starter in Chelsea’s first-team.

Krzystof Piatek

Piatek was reportedly offered to Chelsea with the Blues looking to bolster their attack as they look to secure a top four finish come the end of the season.

Plain and simple, Chelsea cannot afford to rely solely on Tammy Abraham. That’s where Piatek comes in.

Over the past few seasons, Piatek has proven that he can find the back of the net on a consistent basis if provided with quality goalscoring opportunities. In a team like Chelsea, the Polish striker could go on to dominate the Premier League.

Alex Telles

Chelsea have been linked with a move for a new left-back for months now with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmeri putting in inconsistent performances under Frank Lampard.

With the transfer window set to come to a close, Chelsea could make an attempt to sign Alex Telles today.

Telles has scored 5 goals and registered 5 assists in 17 Liga Nos appearances for Porto, a solid tally for a left-back. He’d be able to introduce a new dynamic to Chelsea’s attack whilst still maintaining his defensive duties.

Timo Werner

Timo Werner

Timo Werner would be an amazing signing for Chelsea if Lampard is able to pull it off on deadline day. Chelsea have been linked with a move for Werner throughout the January transfer window but the Blues have been unable to reach an agreement with Leipzig over a move for the 23-year-old.

The Germany international has bagged 20 goals and registered 6 assists in 19 Bundesliga games for Leipzig this season.

He’s the type of striker that would pretty much guarantee Chelsea a place in the top four.
