The UEFA Champions League draw took place in Rome on Thursday and Chelsea have been given one of the trickier groups. The Blues were amongst those in pot 1 alongside all the clubs that had won their domestic leagues.
After a one year absence, Chelsea’s return to Europe’s grandest stage will include trips to Spain, Italy and Azerbaijan. The past two times the Blues entered the competition, they were knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain. The year before they were sent packing by their now AWOL striker Diego Costa. Antonio Conte will be hoping the 2017/18 campaign offers a more favourable outcome.
Here’s a look at Chelsea’s Group C opponents.

After running Juventus close for the Serie A title, Roma will be out looking for revenge this season. Despite a spectacular domestic campaign, Roma haven’t done too well in Europe recently. Francesco Totti’s former club have failed to get out of the UCL group stages in two out of the past three campaigns.
The Italian giants are a well-oiled machine that attack the flanks, play direct balls over the top, operate with a high line and pride themselves in executing choreographed set pieces. Roma will prove a tricky away tie for Chelsea, but if the Blues are serious about going far in this competition, nothing less than 3 points would be acceptable at the Stadio Olimpico.
A familiar face in Edin Dzeko will lead the Roma line, and the Bosnian has revitalised his career in Italy, scoring 48 goals in 69 starts. Radja Nainggolan and Stephan El Shaarawy will also pose as threats to Chelsea.
I see chelsea conquering all through the way but with a stif test over athletico
