Manchester United are on the prowl for some attacking power, and they may complete not one but two major signings up front before the transfer window closes.
With Zlatan Ibrahimović being released and the future of Wayne Rooney up in the air, United have space for two more strikers alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
With Manchester United missing out on Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku, they have turned their attentions to Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid and Andrea Belotti of Torino. The question remains what will these two bring to Old Trafford?
It is clear that Manchester United need to upgrade their front line as they only managed 54 goals all season in the league. This was a whopping 31 goals behind Chelsea who won the league. The Theatre of Dreams became the Theatre of Draws on far too many occasions last season as they lacked a cutting edge up front.
These two strikers would certainly bring back the edge United used to possess under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Alvaro Morata
The Real Madrid striker is only 24 years old and is a real talent. Having started his senior career with the Spanish giants, he moved to Juventus for two years where he won two league titles and helped them reach a Champions League final; where he scored the equaliser against Barcelona.
Since his return to the Bernabéu, he has won the La Liga this season as well as the Champions League when they beat his former side 4-1 in Cardiff.
As well as performing well for his club, Morata has impressed on the international stage and was a standout player for Spain at Euro 2016. He has nine goals to his name and will be hungry to chase down the record set by David Villa for international goals (59).
Why do Manchester United want him?
Even at his tender age, he has a winning mentality and has experienced so much already in the game. He has slipped down the pecking order at Madrid, and he only started 14 games in La Liga last season, but that did not stop him from scoring 15 league goals.
He likes to dribble past players, and he is not afraid to battle with defenders; this is the sort of player Manchester United fans like to see.
Andrea Belotti
The Italian has really burst onto the scene this year. Despite scoring an important 12 goals in Serie A last season, he has gone one better this year and brought his tally up to 26.
He also has an incredible international record; he has scored four goals in just nine appearances for the Azzurri. He signed a new contract in December 2016, which has a €100 million release clause and shows how highly rated he is with Torino.
Why do Manchester United want him?
Like Morata, he is lethal in front of goal, he is also handy in the air and will be a target when United use the width of the pitch, whipping in crosses to the Italian. He will bring much-needed goals to a goal-shy team, and if he starts producing the goods on a regular basis, he will become a real fan favourite.
Will the deals happen?
United are rumoured to be after both strikers, depending on what you read, but one might just be the option. However, neither will come cheap as Belotti could still reject them even if they offer the £85 million (€100 million) for him and Madrid want more than £60 million for Morata.
There is a war chest available to Jose Mourinho, who has already spent £30 million on Swedish defender Victor Lindelof. The Portuguese tactician could be about to spend over £200 million on new players. Morata is the favourite and Belotti is the back-up, but both deals could easily happen, as Mourinho was not happy with some of his attackers last season.
