With Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil already set to leave in January, Arsenal are bracing themselves for a tumultuous winter window. But if you’re going to lose your two best players anyway, why stop there? Why not make it a mass exodus that’ll undoubtedly leave the club in a better position than it was on December 31st. Arsenal have what you call ‘deadwood’ at the club, players that are taking up wages and won’t be used by the boss in any high-profile situations.

Here are three players Arsenal should sell in January.

1Mathieu Debuchy

Mathieu Debuchy

How Mathieu Debuchy is still at Arsenal football club is beyond me. The Frenchman somehow survived a mass clear out in the summer and despite Arsène Wenger publicly admitting he was up for sale, he’s still in North London.

It’s said that relations between the RB and his boss have been on thin ice ever since his move to Manchester United was blocked. Now the 32-year-old hangs around like a bad smell in the changing rooms, not agreeing to go anywhere else.

However, as luck would have it, Arsenal were dumped into the Europa League this season, and that has forced Arsène Wenger to use every ounce of his squad. This has allowed Debuchy to be a regular fixture in the competition, making 3 appearances equating to 264 minutes of football. But still, it’s best for both Debuchy and Arsenal that the 32-year-old leave in January.
