Arsenal tipped to reignite pursuit of €65m Juventus player

Date:

Premier League giants Arsenal are expressing a renewed interest in the signature of a leading member of the attacking setup at Italian heavyweights Juventus. That’s according to TuttoJuve, citing Caught Offside, who point towards Dusan Vlahovic as the player in the sights of the board at The Emirates Stadium.

Striker Vlahovic, for his part, has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal on more than one occasion in the past. In fact, prior to his Juventus switch being confirmed back in January of 2022, Arsenal were understood to have been close to striking a deal for his services with Fiorentina.

And, if the latest word doing the rounds in the media this week is anything to go by, the Gunners are now ready to return to the table. On the lookout for a natural goalscoring option at center-forward, Mikel Arteta and co. have earmarked Vlahovic as a priority target for the summer of 2025.

They are hopeful of taking advantage of Juve’s attempts to reduce the Serbian international’s annual salary, by stretching his €12 million wages beyond the close of his current contract in 2026.

And, in truth, it would not come as all that much of a surprise if the brass in Turin were open to a sale. Vlahovic’s form in a Juventus shirt has long been hit-and-miss at best, and though his numbers in front of goal are solid, it is beginning to look increasingly apparent that new Bianconeri head coach Thiago Motta’s system would function best with a striker more capable of taking the ball in and linking up play.

A hefty sum will nevertheless be demanded for his signature, but, should Juve and the €65m-rated Serbian forward fail to find common ground on a contract extension, Arsenal could find themselves in luck in their pursuit of a long-time ‘favourite’ in north London.
