Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been dealt a considerable blow on the personnel front, ahead of their upcoming continental showdown with Barcelona. This comes amid confirmation that midfield starlet Aleksandar Pavlović is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines, through injury.
Youngster Pavlović was for his part in from the off once more on Saturday, as Bayern Munich played host to Stuttgart in the club’s post-international break return to action. When all was said and done in the clash, Vincent Kompany’s troops emerged dominant victors, a Harry Kane hat-trick inspiring an eventual 4-0 triumph.
En route to their latest three-point haul, however, Bayern saw midfielder Pavlović forced into a premature departure from proceedings. Inside the opening ten minutes of action at the Allianz Arena, the German international went to ground in evident distress, clutching his shoulder. After being tended to by the hosts’ medical team, it was quickly established that Pavlović was in no condition to continue, hooked for Joao Palhinha as a result.
The 20-year-old was in turn subjected to a round of medical tests post-match. And as much confirmed that Pavlović has suffered a broken collarbone. As per a statement across Bayern’s website and social media platforms:
‘FC Bayern will miss Aleksandar Pavlović over the next few weeks. The German international suffered a collarbone fracture in Saturday’s Bundesliga win against VfB Stuttgart (4:0).’
Pavlović, as alluded to above, is expected to be absent for ‘the next few weeks’. This of course means that the midfielder will play no part this coming Wednesday, when Bayern Munich kick the club’s Champions League campaign back into gear. A highly-anticipated showdown with La Liga heavyweights Barcelona lies in wait for the Bavarians, who have to date managed one win and one defeat from their two outings in European competition this season.
