Bournemouth are coming off a massive week in their history having sold Dominic Solanke to Tottenham Hotspur for £65m. Andoni Iraola’s side will be keen to replace the ex-Liverpool forward with a striker capable of leading the line.
The Cherries have proceeded to sign Julian Araujo from Barcelona for €10m but the Mexican international is a right-back. The Spanish tactician will surely want a new striker going into the new season capable of replicating Big Dom’s impact.
Iraola has had a transformative effect on Bournemouth since taking over as their manager. The Premier League club has established itself as a mid-table team and will be hoping to push on this season and move up the rungs.
One player that they have identified who can help them do that is FC Porto striker Evanilson. As per reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth have seen a bid for the Brazilian striker rejected by the Portuguese club.
Porto also turned down another proposal from Nottingham Forest a few days ago. It’s not clear whether the two Premier League clubs failed to match the Portuguese giants’ valuation or if they have no intention to sell Evanilson.
Transfermarkt values the 24-year-old at €35m. He has been at Porto since 2020 and has established himself as a promising young striker in European football. Bournemouth have identified a proper replacement for Solanke in this regard.
It remains to be seen if the Cherries return with another bid for the two-cap Brazilian striker or if they decide to go with another striker target. If not Evanilson, it begs the question as to who Bournemouth have in mind. Let’s wait for further updates on this situation.
