Breaching Gaps: The Serie A’s Turning Point

Many years back, AC Milan and Internazionale were at the very pinnacle of the Serie A having experienced an extended spell of dominance in the Italian top-flight and beyond. All that, though, is in the past, or is it?

With Juventus getting better every season one would wonder if another side is capable of overthrowing them – well, once in a while teams get better and begin to challenge for the league title and this seems like one of those seasons.

AC Milan have kicked-off their journey to retake the throne that once belonged to them; new boss Vincenzo Montella has implemented a powerful attacking style which has seen Milan climb out of the mid-table position they’ve frequently occupied over the past few years.

Carlos Bacca’s form in front of goal has helped them climb up to third place, just five points behind league leaders Juventus who they’ve already secured victory against this term thanks to Manuel Locatelli, one of the many youngsters doing a great job for the Milan outfit this season.

Juventus never seem to stop striving for perfection. Despite possessing one of the best defensive lineups the world has ever seen, they’re reportedly interested in signing Thiago Silva, crazy right? They want Bayern level dominance, too bad its likelihood grows increasingly small as each season passes.

Higuain arrived at the start of the season to partner up with Dybala and add a new dimension to Juventus’ attack after bagging a record 36 league goals last term in a Napoli shirt.

Juventus’ summer acquisitions left the imagination to ponder about a potentially unbeaten season; they’ve lost twice already this season, so that’s already off the cards. The Bianconerri aren’t immune to slip-ups, and they could potentially lose out on the Serie A title to Roma who seem to be their main title rivals this season.

AC Milan will be thereabouts come the end of the season, but Vincenzo Montella’s side aren’t quite ready to lift the title. Next season though will be different; Milan will probably be back in the Champions League, or they could be playing Europa League football, that in itself will help them in player acquisition thus the restoration of the Milan empire could fully kick-off next term.

If you thought this season was intense wait till you see what next term has in store. Imagine Juventus, Roma, AC Milan and Napoli all gunning for the title in an evenly-matched title race – the allure of the Serie A is back, and it can only get better from here.
