Chelsea are strong favourites to sign highly-rated wonderkid Ante Coric, who has also been linked with a move to the likes of Manchester and Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues are reportedly scouting Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, according to a report from AS [via the Telegraph ]
The Spanish newspaper claims that Chelsea will be hoping to snap Coric up ahead their immediate rivals in January as they look to kick start their transfer activity with his signing.
The £8million price tag put on the player will be no problem for Chelsea to pay as they are keen on investing in the young talent coming though the ranks.
But surely Coric can’t expect to arrive at an illustrious club such as Chelsea and an immediate first team opportunity, he’ll have to work his way to the top, possibly going out on loan on a couple of occasions.
Coric, 18, made his debut against Croatian side RNK Split in 2014 before going on to become the youngest-ever goalscorer in the Europa League when he bagged a goal against Croatian outfit Astra Giurgiu at the age of 17.
He is nicknamed the ‘Croatian Messi’ because of his exquisite style of play which is quite similar to that of the Argentine superstar.
Coric will be relishing an opportunity to feature for an illustrious club such as Chelsea, and the Blues will be keen on securing his future ahead of the other teams in the race for his signature.
Chelsea are also in the market for a proven defender, with John Stones still under Chelsea’s radar, although the departure of Jose Mourinho might have reduced Chelsea’s interest in the player.
Amongst others Chelsea have also been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk forward Aleix Texieria. The Brazilian forward has been one of the most in form players in Europe as he shares a similar goal tally with the likes of Pierre-Eimerick Aubumayeng and Robert Lewandowski.
Although a formal bid has not been made Chelsea are expected to contact Shakhtar over the player’s availability in the coming weeks.
