Midfielder Nemanja Matic has stressed that reigning Premier League Champions are ready for today’s Community Shield clash against London rivals Arsenal.
Chelsea have played pre-season friendlies against the New York Red Bulls, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona but are yet to taste victory.
Ignoring the final outcomes, Serbian midfielder Matic insisted that the matches against strong oppositions have helped the Blues a great deal in preparations for the Big Game at Wembley this afternoon.
“We have prepared ourselves well for the game against Arsenal,” the 27-year-old told the club’s official website.
“In pre-season we had three games against good teams. The game against Barcelona, in particular, was a good opportunity to show that we are prepared.”
Blues have won the curtain raiser on four previous occasions, the most recent of which came back in 2009 when they trounced Manchester United 4-1 on penalties.
