Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will be making at least two changes to the squad that saw off Gunners on Saturday afternoon for their visit to Bescot Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Stamford Bridge outfit secured a crucial 2-0 home win against bitter rivals Arsenal on the weekend that saw them get their campaign back on track and close the points gap with Arsene Wenger’s side.
However, the Portuguese boss has decided to alter the winning combination for the midweek clash.
The Capital One Cup holders head into the midweek clash as overwhelming favourites when they begin their trophy defence against Dean Smith’s side.
Diego Costa, who is being widely criticised for his role in Gabriel’s red card, will be destined to the bench.
“I will play Radamel Falcao. Diego goes on the bench,” confirmed Mourinho.
Chelsea skipper John Terry, who played a pivotal role in his side’s title triumph, last season will also be handed a starting berth. He has already missed two domestic games during the current campaign.
The 34-year-old has not played for Chelsea since the defeat to Everton in the campaign opener and was withdrawn in favor of Garry Cahill and Kurt Zouma for the weekend clash against the London rivals as well.
The former West Ham star will be hoping to capitalize on the opportunity and force his way into the top flight when his side visits Newcastle next weekend.
Walsall have lost just one of their opening eight matches this season and are currently second in League One behind Burton Albion.
