David Norris highlights Championship manager who could replace Daniel Farke at Leeds United

Date:

Daniel Farke faces an uncertain future at Leeds United. The 47-year-old Manager of the Yorkshire club has overseen a number of changes in the 17 months he has been in charge there, but all of that now comes down to form.

Owing to their poor start to the domestic campaign, the German boss at Elland Road is undergoing a turbulent time. Four wins and four draws from nine games is not a reflection of the strength of his side, and it might be time for a staff rejig as per former White David Norris.

In conversation with MOT Leeds News, Norris talked about the growing pressure on Farke and how he could see himself sacked before the Christmas break. Furthermore, he believes that Leeds would also not have to travel beyond West Brom to get on board a new manager. Carlos Corberan has previously seen himself linked with a move to Elland from Hawthorns and still continues to do so.

You may also know that Coberan was Marcelo Bielsa’s #2 during the Argentine’s time at the club. Nevertheless, here is what Morris had to say via MOT Leeds News.

“The problem for Daniel Farke is that he can’t go five or six games without a win, that pressure is really on. Carlos Corberan at West Brom was obviously someone they were linked with not too long ago, and he’s done really well since leaving as Leeds’ number two. West Brom should be worried about his release clause. Any sort of bad run and I do think Leeds could push the button, even if it’s this side of Christmas.”

Need for change?

The fans, the board, and the players themselves would have expected a much stronger start, particularly given the investment and changes made in the summer. One can argue that the departure of top-class talent Archie Gray to Tottenham might have had an adverse impact, but they’ve signed quite a few wonderful players as well.

For Farke to secure his future at Leeds, he will need to address several key areas. Improving defensive stability, finding a consistent goal-scoring form, and maintaining player morale will be crucial. Leeds United has the talent and potential to climb up the table, but it will require a concerted effort from both the players and the coaching staff.

All of this must also come immediately. A sad run of form anytime from now until December would mean Farke would have to pack his bags. The pressure is really on the gaffer to turn things around and give everyone around him a sense of hope, and himself, some job security.

While the possibility of a managerial change looms, it’s essential to consider the importance of stability and the potential benefits of giving Farke more time to turn things around. With the backing of the fans and a concerted effort on the pitch, Leeds United can still achieve their goals for the season and jump right back into the top division.
