The Premier League’s front-runners Manchester City welcomed Sean Dyche’s resolute Burnley side to the Etihad. Manchester City may be in outstanding form, but that’s not to say Burnley aren’t too. The Clarets are in great form away from home, taking points from Goodison Park, Anfield, Wembley & Stamford Bridge this season.

Burnley are also unbeaten since the 2nd week of the Premier League, and Sean Dyche has got his team playing in an organised & efficient manner. However, a trip to the Etihad proved to be one step too far for the Lancashire team.

Here are three standout performers from Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Burnley.

It paints a telling picture when a team’s best player is their goalkeeper. Nick Pope produced a coming of age performance against Manchester City, as the Sky Blues forced him into making 7 quality saves.

Just to illustrate how under pressure the 25-year-old was, Manchester City had 15 attempts on his goal. His goal was constantly bombarded, and if it wasn’t through shots, several crosses were flying into his 18-yard box too. Burnley came to the Etihad with a defensive game plan, and as a result, Nick Pope suffered.
