The Premier League’s front-runners Manchester City welcomed Sean Dyche’s resolute Burnley side to the Etihad. Manchester City may be in outstanding form, but that’s not to say Burnley aren’t too. The Clarets are in great form away from home, taking points from Goodison Park, Anfield, Wembley & Stamford Bridge this season.

Burnley are also unbeaten since the 2nd week of the Premier League, and Sean Dyche has got his team playing in an organised & efficient manner. However, a trip to the Etihad proved to be one step too far for the Lancashire team.

Here are three standout performers from Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Burnley.

1Leroy Sané: 8/10

The German youngster seems to impress more and more every time he plays for Manchester City, and today was no different. The 21-year-old flew up & down the left flank all game as he tormented the Burnley defence.

His willingness to run at Burnley caused chaos in the final third, allowing others to capitalise. He varied his runs too, sometimes opting to go to the byline and at other times, he cut inside to run at the CBs. It’s that type of free-flowing tactical versatility that Pep Guardiola builds his teams around.

Throughout the course of the game, Sané completed an impressive 6 dribbles, created 2 chances, had a dominant 70 touches of the ball and produced 27 passes in the final third. Sané was instrumental to City’s build-up play as he helped stretch the pitch, forcing the Burnley defenders to abandon their compactness. The German has now directly contributed to 9 goals in 9 PL appearances. World class.
