They began their campaign with a 2-2 draw against newly-promoted Watford and registered an empathic 3-0 win over Southampton in the next game before suffering 0-2 loss at the hands of Manchester City. In the last game before the break, they were held to a goalless draw by Tottenham Hotspur.
