Everton Vs Manchester United: Preview, Probable lineups and Team News

Date:

While hands down defeat at the Emirates was enough to drown the confidence of the high-flying Red Devils, Everton could make sure to inflict more misery on the Red Devils.

Having an in-form Romelu Lukaku and Steven Naismith on their side, the Blues might force the Red Devils to slump further in the Premier League table.

Looking at the home form of Everton will get you a bag of mixed results. While they defeated Chelsea in a stunning way, Everton has failed to win their remaining 3 home games losing just 1 in the process.

Manchester United crushed Southampton quite convincingly at St. Mary’s Stadium, their away form is everything but comforting for their fan-base. In their last ten away matches in the League, Manchester United have lost 4 and won 5.

Thus, with such an inconsistent form away from home, the Red Devils have to get some consistency away from home if they are to compete for the Premier League title this term.

Midfield department a concern for Manchester United

When Arsenal overpowered Manchester United a fortnight ago, the Gunners managed to score 3 goals in space of 20 minutes to settle the game even before half time.

Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger started the game for Manchester United that day, however looking at the scoreline, it is safe to say that the partnership didn’t work out as intended.

Looking at the Everton midfield and one thing that you might expect them to do is to press the ball. Add the pressure that the audience generates, and the defensive midfield department of Manchester United might have to look for many factors.

Team News

Here are the team news for both sides

Everton

Being the 4th most scathed team in England in terms of injuries, the blue part of Liverpool City will have to field a weakened team against Manchester United on Saturday. Out of the six players that didn’t feature in their home draw against Liverpool a fortnight ago, only 1 of them is in contention to make a return into this fixture.

However, that one player is enough to cause Louis Van Gaal a headache as Jon Stones might find his place in the Everton defense.

The defender attracted interest from Chelsea due to his defensive prowess in the summer and Everton will be looking to get the best out of him in the coming fixture.

Manchester United

While Manchester United fans might not agree with this, Louis Van Gaal has been handed a massive injury boost in the build-up to this fixture. Wayne Rooney has been declared fit to play and despite his recent form, Manchester United fans would be hoping to see the best out of the Englishman on his return to the Goodison Park.

If the return of Wayne Rooney wasn’t enough for Van Gaal, the likes of Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, and Bastian Schweinsteiger have also overcome their injuries just ahead this crunch fixture.

Thus, Manchester United might have a fully fit squad – apart from Luke Shaw, to counter the Evertonians on Saturday.

Probable lineups

Everton: Howard – Coleman – Stones – Jagielka – Galloway – McCarthy – Barry – Kone – Barkley – Naismith – Lukaku

Manchester United: De Gea – Darmian – Smalling – Blind – Rojo – Carrick – Schneiderlin – Mata – Rooney – Depay – Martial
