FA Community Shield: Chelsea vs Arsenal Date, Time, Venue & TV Info

Date:

FA Cup Winners and Premier League champions Arsenal and Chelsea will go head-to-head on Sunday in the traditional curtain raiser at Wembley Stadium as the North Londoners look to reclaim the FA Community Shield. Last year they registered a comfortable success over Manchester City to win the competition.

Preseason Form

Arsenal: Arsene Wenger’s boys won all four matches of their preseason campaign defeating Everton, Lyon, Singapore XI and Wolfsburg. In the last pre-season match, Arsenal crushed Everton 3-1 thanks to goals from Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil to win Barclays Asia Trophy 2015 in Singapore.

Chelsea: On the other hand, Jose Mourinho’s team faced struggles in their USA tour. After kicking off the pre-season USA tour with an unexpected loss at the hands of New York Red Bulls, the Blues defeated French Champions Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish Giants Barcelona but they did it through penalties.

Team News

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has no injury concerns ahead of the eagerly awaited clash against Arsenal at Wembley. The pair suffered injuries in Blues’ shoot-out victory over Barcelona in a pre-season match of USA tour, with Cahill picking up a nose injury and Costa limping off due to a hamstring strain.

Arsene Wenger is expected to name a strong starting lineup, with Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Per Mertesacker and Aaron Ramsey are all expected to feature. Goalkeeper Petr Cech is the only new addition to Arsenal’s starting squad.

Possible starting lineup:

Arsenal: Cech; Debuchy, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Koscielny; Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Ozil; Akpom, Giroud

Chelsea: Courtois; Ivanovic, Azpilicueta Zouma, Terry; Fabregas, Willian, Matic, Oscar, Hazard; Remy
