We’re just over a month away from the start of the 2018 World Cup and the world is eagerly waiting. As the domestic season comes to a close, the best players in the world are now setting their eyes on Russia. Last week we looked at Arsenal, today we’re looking at the World Cup prospects of Barcelona. The La Liga champions will have a number of representatives across every group in the tournament.

Here are 5 Barcelona players to watch out for at the World Cup.

3Samuel Umtiti

Samuel Umtiti

With Laurent Koscielny out for the foreseeable future, Samuel Umtiti is the undisputed first choice to partner Raphael Varane in Russia. The Frenchman himself missed 9 games of the season with a muscle injury but now that he’s close to full fitness, the 24-year-old will form a solid partnership with Varane.

Umtiti’s pace, strength, agility and smart positioning will establish him as one of the best defenders in the tournament. France is a talented team with an abundance of attacking talent, but without the solidity of Umtiti, they won’t progress to the latter stages.
