We’re just over a month away from the start of the 2018 World Cup and the world is eagerly waiting. As the domestic season comes to a close, the best players in the world are now setting their eyes on Russia. Last week we looked at Arsenal, today we’re looking at the World Cup prospects of Barcelona. The La Liga champions will have a number of representatives across every group in the tournament.
Here are 5 Barcelona players to watch out for at the World Cup.
1Lionel Messi
Is this the year that Lionel Messi finally establishes himself as the greatest player to ever live or will the World Cup continue to stain his legacy? The Argentinean has won five Ballon d’Ors, but many say that’s irrelevant until he leads his country to international success.
Cristiano Ronaldo did it at the Euros in 2016, while Messi hasn’t even led his star-studded team to Copa America success. The 2018 World Cup is put up or shut up time for Lionel Messi if he doesn’t deliver, his name will never be mentioned amongst the greats again. If he does deliver, his name will stand alone as the best ever.
