Luke Shaw may finally be a constant feature in José Mourinho’s plans again, but make no doubt about it, Manchester United still need another left-back. Don’t get me wrong, Ashley Young has been exceptional in that position, but at 32 years of age, he doesn’t have many more months at the top level left in him. Plain and simple, Manchester United need a left-back and luckily for them, there are several options available.
Five left-backs Manchester United can sign.
2José Gayà
The Valencia left-back has been heralded by many as Spain’s best defender and Jordi Alba’s apparent heir. Only injuries have come in the way of the 22-year-old and his move to a bigger club. But as the Spaniard seems to have now gotten over his worst injury problems, this is the perfect time for Manchester United to come swooping in. With Gayà’s contract coming to an end in 2 years’ time, Valencia’s asking price would subsequently not be astronomical. The Red Devils could then potentially snap up the most exciting defensive prospect in the world for just under £30million.
