The Bundesliga is still a few days away from kicking off, yet the 18 teams that make up this season’s German top-flight have spent a considerable sum. The league has averaged nearly £2 million spent per player. Borussia Dortmund currently lead the way with player recruitment, as the club attempt to close the gap on Bayern Munich. However, Bayern have also strengthened well, as have many of the other teams that will be making a run at European qualification this term.

4. Breel Embolo – Schalke
Swiss international Breel Embolo is an exciting prospect, and Schalke snapped him up for a cool £20m from FC Basel. In 90 games for the Swiss champions, Embolo tallied 31 goals and 22 assists. Young and explosive, the striker may be the fresh star Schalke need post-Leroy Sane. Embolo will be a brilliant accompaniment to Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
