It has been a productive summer of transfer activity at Blackburn Rovers so far this summer as they will be looking to bounce back to The Championship at the first attempt under the management of Tony Mowbray following their relegation last season. Blackburn are one of the biggest clubs in League One and should be right up there challenging for promotion next May.
Mowbray has made several signings so far this summer with the likes of Marcus Antonsson, Paul Caddis, Bradley Dack, Peter Whittingham, Dominic Samuel and others all arriving at Ewood Park. It would be no surprise to see Mowbray strengthen his squad even further before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
Rovers did not get their 2017/18 League One campaign off to the best start last weekend as they fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Southend United. However, they will be looking to get their first three points of the season this weekend at home to Doncaster Rovers.
We take a look at five players who could play a vital part in the upcoming season for Rovers in their quest to earn a spot back in the second division at the first attempt.
4Danny Graham
It has come as a surprise to many that there has not been much interest in the 31-year-old striker this summer following Rovers’ relegation. Graham was one of the club’s main players in their quest for survival last season and scored many important goals. He has scored a total of 119 goals in his career at a variety of different levels.
Despite the fact the striker has received criticism in the past, one thing that cannot be argued is that Graham will be a quality forward at this level. He proved last season that he still had what it takes to find the back of the net at Championship level and will, therefore, be a key asset to Mowbray this season in the third tier.
