Trent Alexander-Arnold was burdened with the responsibility of being Liverpool’s first choice right-back for an entire season. At just 19 years of age that proved to be a tall order for the youngster. With Nathaniel Clyne developing into an injury-prone player, Liverpool’s right-back options for next season are looking scarce. If Jurgen Klopp wants to truly build upon a 4th placed finish and win the title, a new RB is needed this summer. We take a look at five RBs that Liverpool should target in the summer.
2Serge Aurier
The Ivorian’s first season in England hasn’t particularly gone to plan. Instead of replacing Kyle Walker, he’s played second fiddle to Kieran Trippier, only making 16 league starts all season. A player of his calibre shouldn’t be in such a situation as he’s a top-quality defender. This is a man that was the starting RB for French giants, Paris Saint-Germain.
Aurier’s high-octane mentality would perfectly compliment Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing tactic. Klopp heavily relies on his full-backs to constantly bomb the flanks and provide width, Aurier’s pace and crossing ability make him the perfect candidate.
so we have trent….clyne….Gomez….and now fabinho,,,who can all play right back if required….why do we anyone else again?…..don’t right stuff that is rubbish
