Arsenal picked up the first piece of silverware of the season by beating rivals Chelsea in a penalty shootout following an entertaining 1-1 draw at Wembley in The Community Shield.

There are still plenty of lessons to be learned from this match, despite it being so early on in the season. Both Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte will certainly have much to ponder before the big Premier League kick-off next weekend.

2Alvaro Morata May Have to Be Patient at Chelsea

Despite the fact that Chelsea signed Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata for a club-record £60 million earlier this summer, he may have his work cut out to force a way into Conte’s starting line-up. The fact he was not included in the line-up for today’s match was one of the biggest surprises to many in the lead up to the game.

Conte instead opted for 23-year-old Michy Batshuayi to spearhead Chelsea’s attack. This could be an early indication as to who will start at Stamford Bridge against Burnley next weekend where the Blues will be looking to begin their Premier League title defence with three points. The fact that Morata drilled his penalty wide in the shootout will certainly not have helped his claim for a starting place.
