Jose Mourinho had his share of tough time against Pep Guardiola as Real Madrid’s manager and would have never wanted to see him as a rival manager again when he moved to Chelsea. Although there were rumors that Guardiola might be heading to Manchester City and Mourinho might have to face his old nemesis again.
But if reports are to be believed, Mourinho is “on the brink” at Chelsea and he could end up leaving his job for no other but Pep Guardiola. It is believed that Mourinho has one final chance remaining to prove everyone wrong before the axe falls on him and the role might be handed temporarily to Guus Hiddink with Pep Guardiola as a full-time summer target for Roman Abramovich.
Guardiola’s contract with Bayern Munich will expire at the end of the season and he is himself tight-lipped over his future and is currently not talking with German giants for a contract extension beyond this season. Abramovich has already failed once to land Guardiola in 2013, but he won’t be accepting a negative answer this time around if the situation arises.
Earlier reports of Guardiola signing for Manchester City have faded away as Manuel Pellegrini signed a contract extension with the blue half of Manchester and his side going through a good patch one doesn’t really see him leave anytime soon. It has been reported Blues owner Roman Abramovich wants Guardiola or Diego Simeone to take over the Chelsea position if he sacks The Special One and bookies are already tipping Guardiola as the next manager.
Even Sky Sports pundit, Thiery Henry believes that his former boss will move to Premier League sooner rather than later. All said and done it leaves Mourinho in a tight situation with no margin at all. Mourinho has to play every move to perfection from now on to till the end or the Portuguese might face his worst exit from a club he has earned so much name with.
