India will be looking to clinch their fifth ICC World Cup 2020 title when they lock horns with Bangladesh in Potchefstroom on Sunday.
India, the reigning champions, handed archrivals Pakistan a ten-wicket thrashing in the semifinal to seal a spot in their third straight and seventh overall World Cup final.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be hoping to create a history and lift the trophy for the first time in their maiden appearance the summit clash of the marquee event.
Both India and Bangladesh are unbeaten in the event thus far.
Having beat New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Japan, India finished as Group A leaders before beating Australia by 74 runs in the quarterfinal.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, topped Group C with five points from three games. They recorded easy wins over Zimbabwe and Scotland before their final league game against Pakistan was washed out. They stunned South Africa by 104 runs in the quarterfinal and New Zealand by six wickets to reach the first-ever World Cup final.
India and Bangladesh last faced each other in a World Cup in the quarterfinal of 2018’s edition, when the boys in blue emerged victorious. Since then, the two sides have lined up in seven games in other tournaments; two of them were washed out.
India have won four of the last five completed games against Bangladesh, though two of them turned out to be close contests.
Both India and Bangladesh are unlikely to tinker with the XIs that won them semifinals.
