La Liga ace Karim Benzema has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent times and a move to one of those might just be around the corner according to reports from the Mirror.
Real Madrid’s valuation of the player is reportedly in the region of €50million which should be no problem for top Premier League clubs to afford.
The French striker has been at Real Madrid since moving to the Spanish capital in 2009, but he’s had to live with the label of ‘2nd best’ as a Los Blancos player due to the impressive ability of his strike partner Cristiano Ronaldo.
There’s no doubt that Benzema is right up there amongst the world’s best strikers, but one thing people fail to realise is how talented the Frenchman really is.
It’s evident that Cristiano Ronaldo is the focal point of Real Madrid’s attacking trio, but if Benzema were the main man upfront, his goal tally would have been better the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Suarez.
Arsenal are amongst the frontrunners to seal his signatures, but they are yet to make a formal approach in this regard.
And With the January transfer window already open, more Premier League clubs are expected to join the race for Frenchman’s signature with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea in need of a proven striker.
The Citizens already possess the attacking prowess of Aguero, but they need some more assurance up front considering the number of times Argentine professional gets injured in a single season.
Benzema would definitely hit the ground running if he made a move to the Premier League considering his blistering pace and unquestioned striking ability.
He shares a similar playing style with Luis Suarez, but a move to Anfield would be demented, to say the very least.
Instead, he should make a move to Arsenal should the opportunity arise once again [which it will, as Arsenal are preparing to table a bid for his services].
A move to the Emirates would bring out the best in Benzema as Arsenal appears to be the most stable Premier League club at the moment.
Arsenal’s style of play accommodates the tenacity that Benzema brings to the pitch. He’ll also be reunited with his former Madrid teammate Mesut Ozil, who currently tops the assists chart with 16 Premier League assists.
Benzema would be a good buy for any top European team, but a move to the Premier League would suit him best.
