The January transfer window is a week old and surprisingly there have been many transfers to date. Sure Donny van de Beek has signed for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, but I mean Kylian Mbappe has not moved to Real Madrid, yet.
With financial fair play making its way into the planning of Europe’s top clubs, it can be argued that FFP is the wake-up call, that the clubs at Europe’s top table didn’t want, but most certainly needed.
I am scraping the barrel here. One of the biggest transfers is Sasha Kaljadzic joining Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
The Austrian who was plying his trade at Wolves before this loan, struggled to get to the heights he could at Molineux due to a combination of injuries.
English Premier League champions in recent years Manchester City have been operating on a selling before-buying principle, so they won’t sell players mid-season.
I know the City manager seems to do strange things in the market to challenge himself almost, but even he would surely dare to do something this risky, at this stage.
Even Manchester United, who are partly owned by INEOS, who own French side Nice, even they with all their marketing prowess and endorsements are feeling the need to be spending sensibly, so they don’t all foul of FFP.
Fellow Premier League side Chelsea, despite what their manager Mauricio Pochettino says, will be forced to largely do the same as the other top clubs.
So with that in mind, it looks like Victor Osimehn and Ivan Toney will be staying put for now. Both players by their clubs have reportedly been valued exceeding £100 million.
The January transfer window still has three weeks to run, so here’s to hoping clubs will be able to get some January sales of their own. Stay tuned.
We all know that chelsea have policy that players older than 30yr cannot have new contract more than 1 year, and we also know that chelsea is buying young players and almost nobody of those yougsters have opportunity to prove themselves on the pitch. Some of the current players in the line up need to be benched, and newcomers need more opportunities, from the latest signings only Pedro is playing. Mourinho is more focused on his war with Wenger then improving his team game, which u can see from his last interviews. As a Chelsea fan i hope that our game is going to improve and im looking forward to new trophies. UTC
