Italian giants Juventus ended their three-year trophy drought last season when they won the Coppa Italia title. However, despite also finishing in the top four of Serie A, there is much room for improvement, especially up front.
The Bianconeri managed a mere 54 goals in the Italian top flight last season, the worst return of any side that finished in the Serie A top six. Only the front two of Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa even managed to score in the double digits, highlighting the lack of options when it comes to finding the back of the net consistently in Turin.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are keen to rectify it this summer and have now turned their attention to Chelsea forward Armando Broja. The 22-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since 2009 and was expected to make an impact on the senior side. However, an unfortunate injury limited his playing time before he was packed off on loan to Fulham last season.
Broja is currently behind Nicolas Jackson in the Blues’ pecking order. With Chelsea also looking to bring in another striker, the 22-year-old is unlikely to garner regular playing time at the Bridge.
Chelsea are ready to part ways with Broja for the right price, and the Albanian will also prove to be a cost-effective option for Juventus, ahead of Arkadiusz Milik. The Polish striker failed to impress last season and could be moved on. In Broja, the Turin giants could indeed bring in a capable replacement.
Still young and with room to grow, the 22-year-old forward can do with a fresh start. The slow nature of the Italian game compared to the English one, coupled with the space available to run into, means the Albanian forward could make a name for himself in Serie A.
The deal is a win-win for all parties. Chelsea cash in on a player who is surplus to requirements, Juventus get a solution for their goalscoring woes, and Broja will have the opportunity to rekindle his career at a top club.
