Liverpool Looking to Hijack Man United’s Deal for Brazilian Starlet

Liverpool are reportedly looking to hijack Manchester United‘s deal for Hoffenheim midfielder Roberto Firmino.

According to reports in Germany, Red Devils in advanced negotiations with the Bundesliga club for the transfer of 23-year-old Brazil international.

While some reports suggest that the two clubs have agreed a £13.1million deal for the versatile attacking midfielder, Mirror understands that the German club are eying close to £20m.

And the outlet claims that Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers, who was keeping tabs on winger’s situation, is considering to exploit the opportunity to outbid their Premier League rivals.

Rodgers views Firmino as an ideal replacement for Steven Gerrard, who has departed from Anfield after 18 years after signing with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.

Firmino enjoyed an impressive last season at Hoffenheim, having recorded seven goals and 10 assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.

The midfielder had joined Hoffenheim from Figueirense in 2011 has scored 49 goals in 153 appearances for the German club in five season. He has two years remaining on his current with the German club.

Firmino has earned six Brazil caps since his full international debut in November 2014 – scoring three goals.

The midfielder is currently with Brazil at Copa America, underway in Chile.
