Louis Van Gaal insisted he has no plans of walking away from Manchester United after his players put in a strong performance against a resilient Chelsea side as the illustrious matchup ended in a 0-0 draw.
Van Gaal came under massive scrutiny from United fans and the media alike following a 2-0 loss away at Stoke on Boxing day that marked a fourth successive defeat for the Red Devils.
With the pressure mounting on LVG, the Dutch tactician rallied his troops against Chelsea and despite the game ending goalless United played some good attacking football, something they’ve failed to do for the most of this season.
Louis Van Gaal hinted at a possible resignation after the game against Stoke, but he was quick to dismiss those claims after seeing the team’s fighting display against the reigning Champions.
“When the players give such a performance with this lot of pressure then it is not any reason to resign for me. Maybe the media wants that, but I shall not do that,” Van Gaal said in his post-match interview.
The draw against Chelsea might be a sign of improvement, but Louis Van Gaal is still under pressure from the fans.
Despite that, he doesn’t seem to be too worried about his future with Manchester United.
He added: “It’s for me, not an interesting subject because I cannot have any influence on that.
“I can only work with my players, and you have seen that the players are fighting for me; they have given a good performance.
“Even after this result, the fans were applauding. I cannot say that I am very much concerned, but in this football world, you never know. I have full confidence in the board, and that’s also more important I think in my players.”
By the looks of things it appears that Louis Van Gaal will remain as Manchester United manager in the new year and with the January transfer window approaching, he’ll be keen on signing some players that can help United mount a strong top four challenge.
