What Malcom Could Bring to Spurs

For a long time in this transfer window, the rumour mill has been linking two Brazilians with Tottenham: Lucas Moura and Malcom. However, the latter has been linked more heavily than the former, so I will shift my focus to him.

The rise of Malcom has been quite phenomenal. The youngster rose to prominence in Brazil with Corinthians. After that, Bordeaux picked him up. He didn’t take much time to settle down in France and became a fan favourite almost instantly.

Predominantly a winger, he is now moulding his game to become an efficient forward that attacks from the flanks. He idolizes Neymar and desires to be like him. While he might not become a player of Neymar’s calibre, he is still a potential world-class talent.

And signing him will benefit Tottenham Hotspur in 3 ways…

#1 A Kane support

This support is very, very necessary. Currently, the England star has the bulk of the scoring responsibility, which he fulfils very well. However, it is dangerous for a team to rely on just one person to do the scoring.

While both Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son are great players themselves, who help out with the scoring, they aren’t as consistent as Spurs would like them to be. As a result, the signing of Malcom not only makes sense but is also somewhat of a necessity.

The Brazilian has developed his scoring skills a lot since coming to France. He wasn’t much of a scorer in Brazil, but can now inflict a lot of damage with his tendency to score goals.

#2 Raw talent

The truth is, Tottenham’s recent endeavours with Brazilians isn’t all that great. For example, Sandro Ranieri and Paulinho didn’t really have a great time at the White Hart Lane. However, with Malcom, that could change.

The Brazilian forward is a raw talent that could become one of the best players in the world if groomed properly. And at Spurs, he will be under the watchful tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has the uncanny ability to groom talented youngsters into star players.

Harry Kane might have been unearthed by Tim Sherwood, but he has found his best form whilst playing for Pochettino. Same could be said about Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son and Harry Winks. So, Malcom would have the perfect boss to work for.

#3 A great asset

The thing about Tottenham Hotspur is that they make huge profits with their best players. Be it Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker or Luka Modric (although, they might have missed a trick with the Croat), Tottenham have had some of the finest assets in the Premier League that brought them huge chunks of cash.

In Malcom, they will be signing a young player for a relatively decent fee in the perspective of this market. In a few years’ time, his worth will increase quite a lot, should he play according to his potential; of which, there is little doubt due to his raw talent and Poch’s posh coaching.

So, barring unfortunate injuries and poor tactical choices, Malcom will go on to be world class player and a huge asset for the North London outfit.
