Premier League champions have joined Man United in the pursuit of Southampton winger Sadio Mane, according to Daily Mirror.
The Senegalese forward was a subject of the bid from the Red Devils during the summer, but the Saints refused to sell one of their star players. United are expected to renew their interest in the player as Louis Van Gaal aims to add pace on the wings.
Now according to the report, the Blues have also entered into the race for the 23-year old.
Mane, who has scored six goals for the Saints this season, signed a four-year contract with the Saints last season after completing a £11.8million move from Red Bull Salzburg. Southampton are aiming to tie him down with improved terms at St. Mary’s.
Meanwhile, manager Louis Van Gaal is also aiming to sign a left back in January after admitting that he needs a cover for Luke Shaw as the England international recovers from his broken foot.
Manchester Evening News has reported that Man United will try to sign AS Roma’s defender Ashley Cole on a short-term deal.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea defender is currently out of favour at the Serie A club and will likely be available on cheap.
A short-term deal for the 34-year old will make sense for the Red Devils as Luke Shaw recovers from his injury.
The former England international is yet to feature for his club this season.
